THE SAME SCAR

In my photographic work, I’m interested in how we document, preserve, and remember. Here, I extend that interest to the body as an archive, considering the cesarean scar as a site of memory, labor, endurance, and the systems that shape women’s lives. My own scar led me to think about all that our bodies can hold and reveal—birth, pain, love, choice, loss, survival, and the passage of time.

I am expanding this work into a larger photographic series, The Same Scar, and am looking for people who are willing to have their C-section scars photographed. Every scar is both deeply personal and remarkably familiar—a mark carried by countless bodies, yet shaped by an individual experience. I’m interested in looking at these scars not as something to hide or explain, but as part of the visual history of a life. This work is not about documenting trauma, but about bearing witness: to the body, to experience, and to the things we carry with us.
